INNKEEPER OFFERS NOTEWORTHY AMENITIES

October 2, 2005

By Julie Hatfield

Plenty of sweet little New England inns have good chefs and sophisticated menus, and most of them play recorded music for your dining pleasure, but how many can offer you a night at the opera, complete with a lecture, recordings of various versions of the opera, and a couple of arias sung by the innkeeper? All this while serving a specially planned, four-course dinner that complements the setting of that night’s opera.

Nights at the Opera at the Inn at Crystal Lake, in the village of Eaton Center, N.H., feature Tim Ostendorf – innkeeper, Boston University music school graduate and talented baritone – in sellout nights of culture in the White Mountains. $55 per person; dinner starts at 6:30. Opera night is the third or fourth Thursday of each month from September to May.
